The outcome of a case is rarely decided by whatever ranks first in a search. What decides it is the connections between legislation and case law, connections no single document shows on its own. Until now, piecing them together meant hours of work, a team of people and expensive licences.

We are changing that. Accuracy should not depend on the size of your practice or your budget. We want precise analysis and mapped connections available to everyone who works with legal sources. So AI never replaces checking the original text: every source is one click away, in full.

Other tools want to lock you into their own environment. We built the opposite: a tool that fits your workflow and runs on an open standard. You do not need to migrate your processes, store your files in another system or learn a new interface. Connect it to the tools you already use: Word, Claude, Copilot and more. Your files stay with you; you never upload them to DirectCase.

GDPR compliant

A data processing agreement (DPA) is part of every contract. All communication is encrypted, and our servers are located in the EU (Germany). How we handle your data is set out in full in our terms of service and privacy policy.

High level of security

We follow data security best practices. The content of your queries is not used to train AI. We also offer processing by local models on DirectCase servers, without third-party involvement. You can protect your account with two-factor authentication.

A minimal data footprint

Queries and uploaded documents are automatically deleted from all systems after 90 days. You can permanently delete them yourself at any time. With the MCP connector, DirectCase does not store the content of your queries at all, and you control how much information DirectCase processes.

DirectCase is an AI tool for fast legal research. You ask it a plain question, the way you would ask a colleague. The system searches over verified legal sources and returns a structured answer with citations. You can verify every citation with one click, in the original document. The whole process takes one minute.
Every link in an answer leads to a real legal document. Unlike general purpose AI tools (ChatGPT, Copilot, Gemini, Claude), DirectCase has access to extensive collections of legal sources and links to the original documents. One click takes you to the original text of the law or judgment.
Every answer carries clickable citations linking to the original text of the law or decision. You see the case number, the date, the court and the relevant passage. Checking one source takes a few seconds. You do not need to trust the system, just click through and read the original.
DirectCase covers case law from the Court of Justice of the EU (CJEU) and the European Court of Human Rights (ECtHR). For each country, we publish the exact document counts and source type.
We add new case law and legislative changes daily. Some sources are updated on a weekly cycle, matching how often their publisher releases them.
Depending on the task, you can choose between several language models from major providers such as Anthropic, OpenAI and Gemini. Model choice is part of the higher plans; the top plan also offers locally run open source models for maximum data confidentiality, though their output quality is lower. We update the models on an ongoing basis. With MCP, you can also connect to models under your own AI subscription.
ChatGPT has no access to specialist legal databases. It can produce case numbers or articles that do not exist, because it builds its answers from general data, articles found online or discussion forums. DirectCase is AI built specifically for law. It works from verified sources of national and European law. You can verify every citation immediately, in the original document.
DirectCase complements a traditional database and speeds up the work. Traditional legal software expects you to already know exactly what you are looking for. DirectCase works the other way round: describe the problem in your own words and get an answer with citations. An average AI legal research task takes under a minute. In a traditional database, the same task can take several hours.
DirectCase is AI built for lawyers, trainee lawyers and in-house teams. Judges use it for case law research too, and public administration staff use it to search and interpret legislation.
Yes. One account can manage a whole team. You buy the number of licences (seats) you need, invite colleagues by email and manage their access from a single overview. You add and remove members as needed, and billing adjusts to the number of seats. Each member has their own login, and you keep control of the whole team.
User data is never used to train models. Communication is encrypted, and servers are located in the EU. The system is built with a lawyer’s duty of confidentiality in mind.

You’ll find all your invoices directly in the app, under Subscription, and you can download them as a PDF at any time. Add your company’s billing details, including your VAT number, so your invoices are issued correctly. If you are VAT registered outside the UK, contact support so we can apply the right tax treatment.
Each licence is for one person, as set out in the Terms of Use. DirectCase allows a maximum of 2 active sessions at the same time, for example a desktop computer and a laptop. If you sign in on a third device, the oldest session ends automatically. Sharing login details with another person breaches the licence agreement.
DirectCase includes daily query limits designed for ordinary professional use. We understand that legal work sometimes brings intense periods, for example while preparing a case or under a tight deadline. At the same time, systematically exceeding normal usage patterns, in particular through account sharing or automated access, is treated as a breach of the fair use policy set out in the Terms of Use.

Yes. Local models run on DirectCase servers, and your queries never leave them. The output quality of these models is generally lower, though, compared with models from providers such as Anthropic, Google and OpenAI.
We recommend choosing a model based on the language and jurisdiction. You’ll find our recommended model directly in the model picker.
Anonymisation removes common personal data, such as date of birth, national identification number, phone number and email, before it is sent to the server. This feature, however, is only available for text input. If personal data is contained in an uploaded file, it cannot be removed. Attachments are automatically deleted after 90 days, and this cannot be switched off.
